Konkani language is the Official Language of Goa state. Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi has recognised Konkani as an independent language and it is also included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Konkani language belongs to the Indo-Aryan languages family. Marathi, Gujarati and Hindi are its nearest of kin. Konkani is prominently spoken along the Konkan belt, i.e. Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. It is also spoken in parts of Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Konkani is written in five major scripts, i.e. Devanagri, Roman, Kannada, Malayalam and Perso-Arabic. The regional and social dialectal texture of Konkani is rich. Within Goa, there are various variants of Konkani language such as Pedne, Kankon, Sashti, Sattari, Bardez and Antruz. Also, Malvani, Karwari, Mangalorean or Kochi variant of Konkani is found in parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala.

कोंकणी भास पांच मुखेल लिपयांनी बरयतात, त्यो म्हणल्यार देवनागरी, रोमी, कन्नड, मलयाळम आनी अरबी. कोंकणीची गिरेस्त प्रादेशीक आनी समाजीक बोली वा शैली आसा. गोंयांतूच कोंकणीच्यो वेगवेगळ्यो शैली आयकूंक मेळटात, देखीक पेडणें, काणकोण, साश्टी, सत्तरी, बार्देस आनी अंत्रूज. तशेंच महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक आनी केरळ ह्या भागांनी मालवणी, कारवारी, मंगळुरी आनी कोची शैलींतली कोंकणी उलयतात.
